NERO EXPRESS 2 INFRA RECORDER

Nero express is a software that allows us to make a dupilcate copy of the cd's,to make data to be copied in the disc,to make image file(that can be later copied to the disc),to make variety of disc's as follows:
  • Audio Disc
  • Mp3 Disc
  • Movie Disc and so on
The difference between the audio and mp3 is the capacity and quality of the songs (or) simply the audio data.Mp3 is efficient than the simple audio disc.

Now ,the Nero express is easy and user friendly to use.But inorder to obtain the kit with all features working you need to pay to the company. You will not use all those features but you need to pay for those unwanted stuff's too!

So it's time to switch over from Nero express to Infra-recorder.

                        NERO EXPRESS 2 INFRA-RECORDER

What will Infra-recorder will do?

  • We can do what ever we are currently doing in the Nero express but in a different way.

An Indian Operating System-BOSS

Bharat Operating System Solutions (BOSS) is a free and open source computer operating system
developed by the National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software (NRCFOSS) of India. This software is also known by the acronym BOSS GNU/Linux or simply BOSS Linux. The latest version of this operating system, BOSS GNU/Linux Version 4.0, was released in February 2011.

This software package has been described as "India's own PC operating system" the most meaningful product to come out of the Indian software industry in decades — and a work that a government department had done.

The software has also been endorsed by the Government of India for adoption and implementation on a national scale.

BOSS GNU/Linux is an "LSB certified" Linux distribution: the software has been certified by the Linux Foundation for compliance with the Linux Standard Base standard.
BOSS GNU/Linux is derived from Debian. Debian uses the Linux kernel (the core of an operating system), but most of the basic operating system tools in Debian come from the GNU Project; hence the appendages GNU/Linux to Debian and BOSS.

The product is free software in the sense in which the term is used by the Free Software Foundation, and it is distributed under the GNU General Public License.

Open-source Resources for Cloud Computing

Open-source software has been on the rise at many businesses during the extended economic downturn, and one of the areas where it is starting to offer companies a lot of flexibility and cost savings is in cloud computing. Cloud deployments can save money, free businesses from vendor lock-ins that could really sting over time, and offer flexible ways to combine public and private applications. The following are 11 top open-source cloud applications, services, educational resources, support options, general items of interest, and more.

Eucalyptus.
Ostatic broke the news about UC Santa Barbara’s open-source cloud project last year. Released as an open-source (under a FreeBSD-style license) infrastructure for cloud computing on clusters that duplicates the functionality of Amazon’s EC2, Eucalyptus directly uses the Amazon command-line tools. Startup Eucalyptus Systems was launched this year with venture funding, and the staff includes original architects from the Eucalyptus project. The company recently released its first major update to the software framework, which is also powering the cloud computing features in the new version of Ubuntu Linux.

Red Hat’s Cloud.
Linux-focused open-source player Red Hat has been rapidly expanding its focus on cloud computing. At the end of July, Red Hat held its Open Source Cloud Computing Forum, which included a large number of presentations from movers and shakers focused on open-source cloud initiatives. You can find free webcasts for all the presentations here. The speakers include Rich Wolski (CTO of Eucalyptus Systems), Brian Stevens (CTO of Red Hat), and Mike Olson (CEO of Cloudera). Stevens’ webcast can bring you up to speed on Red Hat’s cloud strategy. Novell is also an open source-focused company that is increasingly focused on cloud computing

.

Traffic Server.
Yahoo this week moved its open-source cloud computing initiatives up a notch with the donation of its Traffic Server product to the Apache Software Foundation. Traffic Server is used in-house at Yahoo to manage its own traffic, and it enables session management, authentication, configuration management, load balancing, and routing for entire cloud computing software stacks. Acting as an overlay to raw cloud computing services, Traffic Server allows IT administrators to allocate resources, including handling thousands of virtualized services concurrently.

Cloudera.
The open-source Hadoop software framework is increasingly used in cloud computing deployments due to its flexibility with cluster-based, data-intensive queries and other tasks. It’s overseen by the Apache Software Foundation, and Yahoo has its own time-tested Hadoop distribution. Cloudera is a promising startup focused on providing commercial support for Hadoop.

Puppet.
Virtual servers are on the rise in cloud computing deployments, and Reductive Labs’ open-source software, built upon the legacy of the Cfengine system, is hugely respected by many system administrators for managing them. You can use it to manage large numbers of systems or virtual machines through automated routines, without having to do a lot of complex scripting.

Enomaly.
The company’s Elastic Computing Platform (ECP) has its roots in widely used Enomalism open-source provisioning and management software, designed to take much of the complexity out of starting a cloud infrastructure. ECP is a programmable virtual cloud computing infrastructure for small, medium and large businesses.

Joyent.
In January of this year, Joyent purchased Reasonably Smart, a fledgling open-source cloud startup based on JavaScript and Git. Joyent’s cloud hosting infrastructure and cloud management software incorporate many open-source tools for public and private clouds.  The company can also help you optimize a speedy implementation of the open-source MySQL database for cloud use.

Zoho.
Many people use Zoho’s huge suite of free, online applications, which is competitive with Google Docs. What lots of folks don’t realize, though, is that Zoho’s core is completely open source — a shining example of how SaaS solutions can work in harmony with open source.

Globus Nimbus.
This open-source toolkit allows businesses to turn clusters into Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds. The Amazon EC2 interface is carried over, but is not the only interface you can choose.

Reservoir.
This is the main European research initiative on virtualized infrastructures and cloud computing. It’s a far-reaching project targeted to develop open-source technology for cloud computing, and help businesses avoid vendor lock-in.

OpenNebula.
The OpenNebula VM Manager is a core component of Reservoir. It’s an open-source answer to the many virtual machine management offerings from proprietary players, and interfaces easily with cloud infrastructure tools and services. “OpenNebula is an open-source virtual infrastructure engine that enables the dynamic deployment and re-placement of virtual machines on a pool of physical resources,” according to project leads.

I think its useful for u friends....

Importance of FOSS

So friends i'l explain about some advantages of using the OSS!!

  • You are provided with full freedom and you can do what ever you want there is no restrictions.
  • There is no need for latest configuration system's to use these softwares.(For eg:The ubuntu operating system needs minimum 256mb ram and 4 gb free space)
  • So,it reduces the hardware cost.
  • We can have what we use other features can be neglected or eliminated.
There are also some disadvantages using the OSS:
  • They are not so user friendly like Windows.
  • The project tend to change often.(eg:Ubuntu versions keep on coming so often)
So,i'l start with the utility softwares.I mean that how to replace the current closed vendor software with

the equivalent Opensource software.

MICROSOFT OFFICE 2 OPEN OFFICE:
  • Every one uses the MSOFFICE that provides us with the storing and manipulating our data.
  • Even though most of us use the pirated version of it,Some people will have to use the geniune version of it which cost around rs.2000 a basic student pack.
  • Think there is a OSS software that can do what ever the MSOffice does.
THAT SOFWARE IS CALLED AS OPENOFFICE.
  • The Open office is developed by Sun microSystems.
  • The Open Office can do what a
  • does only the name changes.Look the below details you can understand what i am trying to say:
  1. MSWORD 2 OPENOFFICE WRITER
  2. MSEXCEL 2 OPENOFFICE CALC
  3. MSPPT 2 OPENOFFICE IMPRESS
  4. MSACCESS 2 OPENOFFICE BASE
If you want to download the OPEN OFFICE Check this:clickhere

To Remember:
  • The document will defaultly saved as ODF(Open Document Format)
  • In order to open with the MSOFFICE also save the document as DOC format as show below in the snapshot:
  • When you want to open a Doc file created in a MSOFFICE no alternation is needed just click the option open with Open office writer.
The snap shot of Open calc is given below:

So,I showed there is a replacable Open source software for a high cost Closed vendor software like

MSOFFICE.

That's it for the post.Download and Use it.I'l see you in my next post with Some other software.

Virtualdub

VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows platforms (98/ME/NT4/2000/XP/Vista/7). It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and also handle sets of BMP images.

To download this software. Click the following link.
http://www.virtualdub.org/download.html

Features:

Have you ever worked with desktop video?
Sure, you've probably played a few video clips on your monitor. But have you ever made one yourself? Used a video capture device? Wrestled with the software that comes with it? Felt like the software is a few leagues above or below your level? Time to try something else.

VirtualDub helps you get video into your computer.
If your capture device is Video for Windows compatible, then VirtualDub can capture video with it. But VirtualDub isn't your average capture program:
· Fractional frame rates. Don't settle for 29 or 30 when you want 29.97.
· Optimized disk access for more consistent hard disk usage.
· Create AVI2 (OpenDML) files to break the AVI 2GB barrier and multiple files to break the FAT32 4GB limit.
· Integrated volume meter and histogram for input level monitoring.
· Real-time downsizing, noise reduction, and field swapping.
· Verbose monitoring, including compression levels, CPU usage, and free disk space.
· Access hidden video formats your capture card may support but not have a setting for, such as 352x480.
· Keyboard and mouse shortcuts for faster operation. To capture, just hit F6.
· Clean interface layout: caption, menu bar, info panel, status bar.

VirtualDub lets you clean up video on your computer.
There are lots of programs that let you "edit" video. And yet, they're frustratingly complex for some of the simplest tasks. VirtualDub isn't an editor application; it's a pre- and post-processor that works as a valuable companion to one:
· Reads and writes AVI2 (OpenDML) and multi-segment AVI clips.
· Integrated MPEG-1 and Motion-JPEG decoders.
· Remove and replace audio tracks without touching the video.
· Extensive video filter set, including blur, sharpen, emboss, smooth, 3x3 convolution, flip, resize rotate, brightness/contrast, levels, deinterlace, and threshold.
· Bilinear and bicubic resampling -- no blocky resizes or rotates here.
· Decompress and recompress both audio and video.
· Remove segments of a video clip and save the rest, without recompressing.
· Adjust frame rate, decimate frames, and 3:2 pulldown removal.
· Preview the results, with live audio.
You can take a captured clip, trim the ends, clean up some of the noise, convert it to the proper frame size, and write out a better one. Don't see a video filter you want? Write your own, with the filter SDK.

VirtualDub is fast.
The author of VirtualDub is very impatient. That means his program is designed for speed, both in the interface and in the processing pipeline. Converting a compressed, 320x240 MPEG-1 file to an uncompressed, 24-bit AVI requires only these two steps in VirtualDub:
· Open video file (Ctrl-O).
· Save AVI (F7).
How fast is this operation? On a C450, 40 frames per second (1.3x real-time speed). With a little tweaking, the speed rises to 55 fps (1.8x), with the CPU hardly breaking a sweat at 40%.

Plugin SDK:
VirtualDub has the capability to load third-party DLLs that include their own video filters. The filters that are built into VirtualDub use the same interface that is exported to DLLs, so you can write filters similar to or better than the included ones. You can sample some of these at the third-party filters page; these range from corrective filters, such as noise reducers, to synthesis filters, such as the subtitler. The basic interface is simple to work with: VirtualDub gives you a 32-bit ARGB bitmap to modify. You can also create modules that include input drivers, which enable VirtualDub to read new video and audio file formats.
Requirements for the Plugin SDK:
· Microsoft Visual C/C++ 6.0 or newer, any edition. Visual C++ 6.0 Service Pack 5 Professional or Visual Studio 2005 are recommended; Express editions, including Visual C++ Express 2005 and 2008 may be used. Other C++ compilers may be usable but are not supported.
· VirtualDub 1.4.12 or newer (VirtualDub 1.8.8+ recommended).
Download Plugin SDK 1.1 (VDPluginSDK-1.1.zip) Download Plugin SDK 1.0 (VDPluginSDK-1.0.zip)
The Plugin SDK supercedes the old Filter SDK, which only covered older versions of the 32-bit video filter API, and doesn't cover 64-bit video filters or input plugins. If you have an old filter which you need to recompile, you may need to use this older filter SDK: Download filter SDK 1.05 (filtsdk-1.05.zip, 66K zip file)

VirtualDub is cheap.
To be exact, it costs nothing. VirtualDub is licensed under the GNU General Public License, meaning you can use it for free. No risk involved, and the whole source code is available if you want it.

The FOSS Concept

Hai friends,

In this post we are going to see What is FOSS?What it provides?and What is the FOSS Concept?.First let us see,What is a foss?

WHAT IS FOSS?

FOSS stands for Free and Open Source Software. As far as my concern,LEARN- DEVELOP - DEPLOY is the motto of FOSS.

What FOSS Provides?

SERVE  : FOSS provides full freedom to use the software to meet your own requirements.

STUDY : FOSS provides freedom to Study and modify the software.

SHARE : FOSS provides freedom to Redistribute the modified as well as original version of the   software.

FOSS CONCEPT:

  • The term FREE refers to FREEDOM not the cost
  • It does not mean no cost it refers to the fact that the software is free of any conditions (or) rules.

The software provides the following four freedoms:

  1. Gives full freedom to meet one's own requirements.(i.e) can be used for any purpose
  2. to study the software
  3. to modify the software
  4. to redistribute the modified (or) original versions of the software.

We will see about the types of software in my next post.Feel free to post your comments.

MS2OSS

Hai friends! All must be confused with my post title!!!!I'l explain the meaning behind that, MS-MICROSOFT and OSS-OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE. Now i'l hope you understand my point.I mean :

                              MICROSOFT SOFTWARE'S 2 OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE'S

I hope, every one know about the Microsoft.I'll accept Microsoft producing products that are very much user friendly because of it's GUI feature. But,think! They are charging you what ever you do right? And you need a permission from him to do a modification in his product. Why to depend on that particular Microsoft again and again? Our dependency towards a particular products which is from a closed vendor reduces our freedom and makes us to learn what he provides!!!!!

Now,that's time for a change! Come on! let us quit the software's from closed vendors and let us try with the free available software's from open vendors.

GET READY FOR THE WAR BETWEEN MS AND OSS

Terms:
There is a difference between free software and open source software:
  • The free software or freeware is supplied and redistributed for free as per the author's request. No additional license is needed to redistribute.
  • The open source comes with full of freedom and you can do what ever you want.
  • A open source software can be defined as the software that comes along with the source code.
  • You can do what ever you want in the source code and develop a new software. You can supply the software with your modification to any no. of persons.
  • The only restriction in open source you cannot get a copyright to a software that is supplied as the open source.
  • The open software ranges from OPERATING SYSTEM to SMALL UTILITY software's.
  • Examples:
        1.UBUNTU-OS
        2.INFRA-RECORDER-Utility

I will tell more about open source in my future post.
